South African Trade deficit grows to high of R17.4bn

South Africa's trade deficit surged to a record R17.4 billion last month as the global recession cut demand for platinum and car exports. The deficit widened from R1.6 billion in December, the SA Revenue Service said in an e-mail on Friday.
