Mozambique - GDP expected to slow to 5%
Mozambique's economic growth might slow to 5 percent this year from 6.5 percent last year as the global recession hit exports, central bank governor Ernesto Gove said yesterday. "Taking into account the behaviour of the export sector that can drop by about 25 percent ... one can expect a GDP (gross domestic product) growth varying from 5 percent to 6 percent," said Gove. "Our projections indicate that the economy will slow down to 5 percent." He said the central bank might revise the forecast, taking into account government measures announced on Monday night.
